GRAND OPENING

The Millennium Dog Park was founded by Letty Towles a local Ocala Dog Trainer. It is the first Dog Park in Ocala and also Marion County.
Seeing how many people were having problems with their dogs behavior due to lack of exercise and socialization, Letty decided to look into the feasibility of having a Dog Park in Ocala.
After much research, she approached the City Of Ocala Council and the Marion County Commissioners to see if they would be interested in having a dog park in Ocala. While they weren't interested in doing the project they did give the go ahead, so the Ground Breaking Ceremony took place on September 6th, 2001.
Finally on November 7th, 2003 the Millennium Dog Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place with City of Ocala Mayor Ergle cutting the ribbon opening the park while representatives from the City Parks, County Parks, State Parks, and Chamber of Commerce were present.
The first dogs in the Large Dog Park were Annie and Suzie belonging to Lucy Tobias a local reporter and in the Small Dog Park the first dog in was Jake owned by Councilman Mike Amsden and his wife Sue.
The park will celebrate it's 7th Anniversary on November 7th, 2009. We look forward to many more years and are Planning more projects to make the park the best in Florida.
Our special thanks to the City of Ocala Parks Department for all their help.
Millennium Dog Park is a non-profit Park and receives NO financial assistance, the park is run completely by donations.
